To fulfill the second objective of our mission the Human Rights Awareness Tour will be promoting organizations (NGO's) working in the field of Human Rights at all of the events on the tour.
The following is the list of organizations the tour will be promoting:
Genocide Intervantion Network “GI-Net’s mission is to empower individuals and communities with the tools to prevent and stop genocide.” “GI-Net will change the way the United States and the international community respond to the world’s worst crime. GI-Net’s aim is to recruit a committed and diverse group of individuals and communities to form an active network that realizes the “never” in “never again.” GI-Net members educate their communities, lobby their elected officials and fundraise directly for civilian protection. Currently, their work is focused on ending the ongoing genocide in Darfur, Sudan, where more than 400,000 people have been killed and over 2.5 million have been displaced; providing material support for African Union peacekeepers in the region; and organizing political action campaigns for a more robust civilian protection force.” www.genocideintervention.net

No Sweat Apparel is a Boston-based company dedicated to putting an end to sweatshops by selling “Sweatshop Free” apparel manufactured in union-run factories. Above and beyond producing and selling sweatshop free clothing the company has also made major steps in furthering the Israeli/Palestinian peace talks. Last December, owner Adam Nieman launched a line of T-shirts manufactured in Palestine, smack in the middle of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The factory is owned by a Christian and organized under a Muslim union. Nieman is Jewish. The deal proves collaboration between the three religions and shows that peace is possible. No Sweat has donated a runway and clothing to be used for the “No Sweat Fashion Show” as part of the Human Rights Awareness Tour. The company has just partnered with Trees for the Future and will now plant a tree for every order made. For more info please check out www.nosweatapparel.com .
